Daily Disney Dish – 1/31/13

Good Morning!  I hope you all are having a Magical day!  Let’s see….what’s in store for today…

In just 19 days, my family and I will be on our next Disney vacation!  On this trip, we will be splitting our time between Disney World, and The Disney Cruise Line, on one of their newest ships, The Dream! We are beyond excited, because there are so many new things to experience right now at Disney World..

We will be staying at the newest Disney Resort Hotel, The Art of Animation!

These are just a few photos of the Nemo themed area. There are also areas and rooms/suites in Lion King, Little Mermaid, and Cars as well!

Other new things around The World:

Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom has doubled in size! There’s the new Big Top Circus, complete with dueling Dumbo rides. Dumbo has a new, very unique concept. Instead of having a traditional queue line, you are given a pager, and allowed to explore the Big Top, where there are games and other activities to keep busy while waiting for your turn! When your pager goes off, you report to a cast member and your group will be next in line to ride! There’s Casey Junior’s Train – a little splash area for the little ones.

Beast’s Castle, complete with some new eateries. Gaston’s Tavern which will serve quick snacks and drinks. Be Our Guest, which serves quick lunch, and table service dinners. (If you would like to dine there for dinner, I suggest making reservations months in advance, as it is very popular and books up quickly) There is a storytime with Belle that has lots of “extras” and audience participation opportunities.

The new Voyage of the Little Mermaid ride. This is very similar to the Nemo ride at Epcot, but does have some new touches.

For any of you who haven’t been to WDW recently, there is a new interactive game called “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom”. We got to try it last time, and it is so fun! You are given these “trading cards” and sent on a journey all over Magic Kingdom to fight the Villains of Disney World. These cards act as your “defense and offense” against the Villains. There is a story line of course. And you are given a map so that you know where your next clue will be waiting for you. For more information, you can go here:

There’s Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at Epcot, starring Phineas and Ferb . This attraction replaced The Kim Possible Adventure, and promises to be more technically advanced, and clearly these are characters that the kids of this generation can identify with.

Also at Epcot, Test Track has been given a facelift. Chevy has taken over and done some incredible things. The queue lines are highly interactive, with the option to design your own car of the future. The vehicle testing portion of the ride has been revamped to add some new thrills. And there are new interactive areas upon exiting the ride as well.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios there is a new attraction called The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow. This replaced (the very boring) Narnia exhibit. There are also Jack Sparrow meet n greets as well!

At Downtown Disney there is a new bowling “boutique” called Splitsville. It comes complete with full table service meals, bars and lounges, and even outside dining. It is rather pricey for a bowling experience. And I would consider this more of an adult experience than one for families.

So, there you have it. Just a few things happening around the World. The next couple of years promise to be very exciting at Disney World as they continue to grow. Fantasyland will be complete when the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Car Train is complete. This is a new concept in roller coaster technology and the only one of it’s kind. They will begin demolition of Lights Motors Action at Hollywood Studios to make way for Cars Land! It will be very similar to the one at Disney’s California Adventure. And, finally, they will be replacing Camp Minnie Mickey at Animal Kingdom with Avatar Land! It will be very interesting to see how that unfolds. All of these attractions will open in phases, and are expected to be completed by late 2014/early 2015.

Today’s Orlando Forecast: Sunny and 65 degrees.
